Sponsorship program ‘peaks’ community interest

A record-breaking Community Sponsorship Program will enable leading Townsville mechanical and electrical contractor Peak ARE (Airconditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical) to support community organisations with around $20,000 in funding and in-kind services in 2023.

Peak ARE manager Allan Petersen said there were a record number of applications for this round of the annual program, which the locally owned business launched in 2021.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support the Townsville community has given us over the years, and our Community Sponsorship Program is our way of acknowledging that support and giving back,” Allan said.

“Each year the application process highlights to us just how many great community organisations are doing wonderful things for Townsville and the surrounding areas,” he said.

“Applicants ranged from, sporting organisations, to musical clubs, community events and not-for-profits supporting those less fortunate.

“Our team would like to thank all of those who applied for their interest and effort they invested. We’ve taken some time to consider each of the applications carefully and, though it was incredibly tough, we have selected the following five successful applicants:”

Saints Eagles Souths Football Club (SESFC)
Kelso Community Hub
Townsville Toy Library
University Hawks Australian Football Club
North Ward Sand Crabs Rugby Union

Saints Eagles Souths Football Club President Terry West said the Peak ARE sponsorship this year would be the club’s most significant partnership.

“Peak ARE’s support will help us kit out 14 junior teams with new playing strips,” Terry said.

“That will positively impact over 180 players from Under 5’s through to Under 16’s, which is a fantastic boost for the individual players, teams, and our club in general,” she said.

“We try to instil values of teamwork, fair play, hard work and commitment in our players, through the game we love, and it’s exciting to be aligned with a local business that holds those same standards.”
